Biography
Hans Fecht is Chaired Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ulm, Germany, and Director of the “Institute of Micro and Nano-materials". He received his PhD at the University of Saarbrücken in 1984 and became professor at the University of Augsburg after postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the California Institute of Technology, USA. In 1993 he was appointed Full Professor at the Technical University Berlin and in 1997 at University of Ulm. He directs a group of about 30 academics, students, technicians and visitors. He has published more than 450 scientific papers, coordinated numerous national, European and international research projects and (co)organized a number of international workshops, symposia and conferences. Hans Fecht was awarded with the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation (DFG), "Pioneer of Nanotechnology" (Deutsche Bank), the Innovation Award of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and is member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. In addition, he is the office director of the EUREKA Cluster Metallurgy Europe.
Research Interest
Prof. Fecht directs a group of about 30 graduate students, PhD students and Post-Docs in the field. He has (co )authored more than 450 technical papers, (co-) organized several international conferences (micromaterials) and workshops (EPS, ESA, nanoDanube). He is a member of several international advisory boards and has a long standing history of managing national and international projects in the field of materials science and nanotechnology
